Hard Bindings- Thesis & Dissertation
Hard bindings at City Binders bookbinders are usually – Mechanically fixed/Sewn; glued up, forwarded on then trimmed on all 3 edges (1-2mm); the Hard bound cover is made with oversized 2-3mm thick greyboard. Library Buckram - Arbelave cloth covering is turned in over the boards. This is then lettered reading Up/Down spine. Additionally the front board is lettered if specifications require. Finally attaching the lettered Hard case cover onto the trimmed book block. The standard pricing structure for Hard bound Thesis and Dissertations includes the spine lettering. Front board or front cover lettering is an additional charge above the standard cost. This is because the traditional Universities Hard binding standard only includes spine lettering. Modern style for Hard binding Thesis and Dissertations may require front board (front cover) lettering. Common formats for front board lettering are, Title only or Title and Students name. Alternative Thesis or Dissertation bindings styles are:Soft Bindings / Soft (Flush) Bindings
